August 9, 2014 - Dog Days of Summer & Cool Cat Nights

At Detroit Metro Mashup we don’t take anything much more seriously than the plight of domesticated animals, particularly cats and dogs, that are abandoned, born outside with no shelter, or worse, held captive by humans with no care for their wellbeing or used for fighting. We strongly support the efforts of the SE Michigan counties that work to place these animals in good homes, the various organizations that rescue them, and the Trap, Neuter, and Release programs that help the ferals survive while reducing the breeding populations.

Oakland County’s Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center has been very active this summer at trying to  place the animals that are in their care by having festival events to encourage adoption. We covered one event earlier in the summer and the photos on this page are from their Summer Event Finale, “Dog Days of Summer & Cool Cat Nights.”

Dog Days of Summer & Cool Cat Nights was held on August 9 at the adoption center at 1700 Brown Road in Auburn Hills. It was a festival atmosphere, with radio broadcasting by WCSX 94.7, vendor tents and table, bounce houses for the kids, food, and adoption specials that were announced at the event. As per their flyer:

• Pet Adoptions
• WCSX 94.7 onsite
• Concrete Cuisine (Food Truck)
• Bouncy Houses
• Face Painting & Fun for Kids
• Psychics - Readings by Chantelle
• Vendors
• Raffles
• Swimsuit Contest (for Fido)

This was a great event and we took lots of photos of potential pets, particularly adorable cats, since cats rule the internet. Please go check out our photos, because there are some really beautiful animals there, then go down to the Adoption Center, pick one (or two or three) out, and add to your family.
