May 2-3, 2015 - Detroit’s Palmer Park Art Fair

We happened upon the Palmer Park Art Fair last year coming home from another event only to find it was over and the exhibitors packing up. We told ourselves we would attend next year, so we did. This show had been on hiatus for decades, making last years show the first in a very long time.

Palmer Park in Detroit is beautiful setting for a show and has a stream running thru it. The community is very active, resurrecting the fair and having lots of other meetings and activities? I had never been to this park so this was all new to me.

I heard a xylophone in the distance and followed a walkway to find a beer tent and food truck set up on the other side of the water. Also there is Mayor Palmers old cabin, which the Palmer Park People are trying to restore. They have many events planned and you can find out more by going to their website.

There were live demonstrations of glass blowing, CJ Forge was on hand doing blacksmithing, a sculpture was being made before our eyes, a teen artist program tent was active, musicians were playing and, oh yeah, art was available and being created. I personally bought home a bag of Woodward Avenue Detroit Bold coffee.
