August 30, 2014 - Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Detroit, Labor Day weekend racing event
The Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Detroit held its annual Labor Day weekend racing event at Michigan’s Waterford Hills race track of the Oakland County Sportsman Club on Saturday, August 30, 2014. This is the only permanent road racing track in southeastern Michigan and it has seen over 50 years of racing. The track is 1.5 miles long with 13 elevation changes. It hosts open track days, personal test days, and club/organization outings such as the Alfa Romeo Owners Club races.
We photographed some of the races and shot a video of a silver VW on the track. We didn’t get the owners name, but he told us this was his first time racing (he is wearing a green shirt in the photos/video). There were quite a few cars on hand at the race, from everyday stock autos to souped up and tricked out. If you like auto racing and you want it local, in SE Michigan, you should check it out.
