April 18, 2015 - Seeds, Sun and Sustainability; An Earth Day Happening - Hazel Park, MI

We were going to a clothing swap to drop off some clothing for those who might need them and, in the process of finding out more about it, we discovered that it was a component of a pagan Earth Day celebration. So we grabbed our cameras and took some photos.

The swap/celebration was from 1:00pm - 5:00pm at the Hazel Park Recreation Center, 620 W Woodward Heights Blvd. in Hazel Park. There was a large room at the recreation center with lots of tables and people sorting clothes, to which we contributed several large bags for the free swap. Down a hallway and just to the right was a concession window leading to a kitchen, where several food items were being sold at very reasonable prices. We didn’t eat, but were tempted. There was also a children’s play area but, having no tots to entertain, we didn’t go in. A little further along the rec center opened into a large room with a stage and vendor tables. We arrived while they were being set up and stayed to see what was being sold and promoted. Crafted and naturally sourced items from candles to seeds were available, so we’re not going to try to list everything. We did manage to take photos of most of the booths, so go take a look and you’ll see the varieties of goods that were available.

In addition to the clothing swap and vendors, presentations were made by:

Melissa Hill Dandelionlady on Pagan Homesteading
Rachel Mifsud Briarpatch on an Outdoors Introduction to Foraging
Joseph Sweet on Bees, Beekeeping, and Honey

Sponsors of this event included:

Midwest Witches Ball
Pagan Business Network
Young's Garden Mart and Christmas Fantasy
Eckert's Greenhouse & Perennials
Pagan Pathways Temple

There will also be their 8th Annual Pagan Pride Day on August 8th, 2015. From their website:

“This year marks our 8th year celebrating the wonders and joy of life in the Metro Detroit Area Pagan Community. We are honored to be able to once again invite all of you to come out and celebrate with us on August 8th 2015.
We had a wonderful time last year with the over 400 patrons who attended our event and our vendors provided a wide array of items for them to enjoy. We are glad to have you back to do it again!
We are always looking for volunteers, presenters and vendors, so if you have any questions about where to be and how to get there, feel free to contact us.”
